The Location: Quite simply, there's no better spot to set up base in Sydney than at the Swissôtel. Smack bang on Market Street, directly opposite The State Theatre, guests can walk virtually anywhere in the CBD. A few steps away from The Grounds of The City, David Jones and Hyde Park makes this hotel ideal for first time and regular visitors to Sydney. Enter via Market Street and take the elevator to the eighth floor where you'll be greeted with a huge lobby.

The Room: All rooms have seen a recent redesign by Australian firm CHADA. Incorporating Swiss principles of simplicity and immaculate attention to detail, the rooms are elegant and understated whilst employing luxury furnishings and linens. Go for a corner room which offers unparalleled views over the city and a slick bathroom complete with a freestanding bath tub.

Common Areas: The bar and lounge in the lobby comprise moon shape booths perfect for afternoon tea or a pre-show drink. Up one level is the executive lounge which comes kitted out with magazines, a fireplace and serves breakfast and evening canapés. There's also a gym equipped with new machines and an in-house spa which recently took out the award for Luxury Urban Escape category at the 2017 World Luxury Spa Awards held in Hanoi, Vietnam.

The Food: Room service was mostly good - with a signature dish of schnitzel perfectly crumbed and served hot and fast. The hotel's restaurant also offers an early-bird $49 dinner menu which is two courses and a glass of wine, making it excellent value.

The Service: Right from the get-go at curbside impeccable service is evident from assistance with bags to calling a cab. Requests over the phone are delivered lightning quick and turn down service comes with extra chocolates. A breakfast box is lovingly provided due to a 5am check-out which makes the journey onwards so much more pleasant.

Good To Know: The hotel has partnered with Tink Labs Limited, one of Hong Kong’s most successful startups that revolutionises travel and tourism, to offer a free mobile travel solution to its hotel guests. "Handy" is an innovative smartphone offered as a complimentary amenity in all of the hotel's 369 rooms to provide guests with unlimited connectivity on the go and to hotel services. Perfect for the international traveller.

Verdict: We love the property for a weekend escape to Sydney. If you're looking for a hotel with prime position and elegance, Swissôtel is it.

Rates: Signature rooms start from $369 AUD which includes access executive lounge access for two guests.
