The Location: Kowloon is becoming more and more popular for those wanting a slow paced Hong Kong base and the Kerry Hotel is located waterfront in Hung Hom. It's five minutes walk away from the MTR, giving it easy access to the rest of the city.
Style: The Kerry Hotel is less hotel and more garden resort, nestled unassumingly in city surrounds. The lush, sprawling oasis offers respite from the crowds, with lots of landscaping, open communal spaces and an infinity pool with unobstructed views over Hong Kong Island. The interior is designed by Andre Fu, responsible for the boutique Upper House, but The Kerry is on another scale altogether. With 546 rooms the hotel has focused on light and space and is evident in all areas from the lobby, to the restaurants, bar and suites.
Rooms: With space coming at a premium in Hong Kong, the rooms at Kerry Hotel are astonishingly large. The bathrooms come with a rain shower and bath, there's an walk-in style closet which flows on to an open mini bar and a bedroom with floor to ceiling views of Hong Kong Island. The plush furnishings are cool toned, comfortable and give the feeling of zen.
Facilites: The large 24/7 gym comes with expert staff and connects to a full service spa. The cabana lined infinity pool flows on to an open grass area, which will serve as a space for outdoor events in the Summer.
Dining: The breakfast buffet seems never ending and offers made-to-order cooked dumplings, pancakes, stir fry's and juices, which come out fresh and tasty. Unique to the hotel is The Dockyard, which is an urban food court that acts as host to a sleuth of popular eateries serving up fresh-to-order street style dishes and cheap eats. The formal restaurant Hung Tong served up quite possibly one of the best Chinese meals we've ever had. BBQ pork so sticky, sweet and salty that it brings a tear to your eyes alongside simple fried tofu, perfectly crisp and spiced will leave you hankering for more. And make sure you head to the terrace at the Red Sugar bar for stellar views at sunset.
Service: Despite the size of the hotel, staff are attentive and on hand. Walking through the large lobby and communal spaces they are cheerful faces always at the ready to assist.
