EXTRAORDINARY WORLDS WITH SEABOURN

7 days greece and dalmation delights - ATHENS TO VENICE

Hopping on board luxury cruise ship Seabourn is a treat in itself. But beyond your balcony, where the champagne is flows, there's an extraordinary world and one of the best ways to see it is by boat.

Pulling out from Athens, there' not much ahead of you except still water and a sweeping sunset. Morning breaks to a view of Monemvasia, a tiny spit of land that was once used for refuge during periods of invasion. If you're keen to seen some ancient Spartan ruins you can take a bus some two hours to the UNESCO site of Mystras. A monestary, still in operation, is surrounded by the crumbling archeological site with panoramic views of Greek terrain. Cool off with a splash in one of Monemvasia's swimming pools in clear, turquoise water.

The following day has a stop in Katakolo, which is a 30 minute drive the site of the original Olympic Games. If you visit early in the morning you will avoid the crowds and be able to wander at your own pace. Katakolo is also a great spot to sit and feast on Gyro by the water for no more than a few dollars.

Up next is Lefkada, where crystal beaches are plentiful. Book yourself in for a boat ride out to Jackie Onassis' private island, Skorpios. A quick dip here in the Ionian Sea will have you feeling like royalty and gives a glimpse in to how she lived her later years.

Your final stop in Greece is Corfu where there is so much to see and do. You can take a mini 4x4 up the mountain and visit ancient towns or hop on a bus to Old Corfu; a pretty town with loads of fresh seafood and local produce (try the kumquot liqueur).

Moving on from Greece, sailing past Bosnia, you pull in to Croatia's ports of Dubrovnik and Primosten. Game of Throne's fans will be eager to seek out King's Landing and other backdrops from the infamous TV show. Otherwise take a stroll around Dubrovnik's wall and marvel at the terracotta roofs and the crystal green sea. Primosten is a sleepy beach town and in the Summer it would be the perfect spot for a lazy afternoon with fresh fish and chips.

Pulling in to Venice at the conclusion of the cruise is like a sweet kiss goodbye. Whether you choose to see the sights via one of the tours available through concierge or discover them at your own leisure, travelling through Greece and Croatia on Seabourn is an extraordinary experience with no limits on how to explore the world.
