Best Hotel Breakfast - Grand Hotel Tremezzo, Lake Como, Italy. Grand Hotel Tremezzo serves up a spread that is mind bogglingly huge. There’s a cured meat station, a cheese station and a chocolate station just to start. Moving on we have overflowing bowls of ripe cherries and eggs cooked to order. Fancy focaccia? They have them. At the focaccia table. There’s 10 cookie jars filled with sugary morsels which lie right next to the cake and cannoli table. The best part is everything is delightful. Pastries are crisp, cakes are buttery and crumbly, chocolate is rich and creamy and the salumi is sliced to order. We’re in breakfast heaven.

Best Hotel Restaurant - Hotel Esencia, Yucatan, Mexico. We could rave about this hotel all day long, it was truly one of our favourites of the year. The stunning beaches and warm service could only be topped by unbelievable food. Starting off with a divine mezcal cocktail at the beach bar, you move to dine in the wonderfully picturesque restaurant which is clad with intricately designed linens and crockery. The menu is local, authentic and damn good. Cheese fondue is wickedly moorish, guacamole seems to free flow and a lime soup is refreshing and light. The breakfast is fabulous too - try the burrito.

Best Hotel Bed - The Surfrider Malibu, Los Angeles. Perhaps it’s the sumptuous, custom designed California King four poster bed or the Bellino linens that make The Surfrider Malibu one of our favourite sleeps of the year. It also helps when you can hear waves faintly crash in the distance, lulling you to drift off. With the curtains billowing in the wind, this really is the bed of our dreams.

Best Hotel Room - The Whitby, Midtown, New York. The suites at any Firmdale hotel pull you in to their fantasy as soon as you step in the door.
