24 HOURS IN MANILA
WITH PENINSULA HOTELS
By Rhiannon Taylor, July 2017
If you're heading to the Philippines with the idea of island paradise in mind, don't overlook a stopover in Manila during your transit. This bustling city has the charismatic chaos of Indonesia teamed with the urban planning of Singapore. Here's what we crammed in during out time in Manila.
Known around the globe for it's outstanding commitment to service and luxury, The Peninsula Manila is reknowned as one of the best places to stay in the Makati district. It's hidden entrance has sophisticated security to ensure the hotel stays an urban oasis for it's guests. Rooms are fitted with plush, classic furnishings and finished with elegant touches of silk fabrics and teak for true luxe aesthetic. There's a welcome platter awaiting you upon check in and the bathroom amenities are custom-made for the hotel group by Oscar De la Renta. There's a fabulous high-tea spread in the stunning atrium on the ground floor each afternoon and for evening drinks hit up the slick adjacent bar Salon de Ning which is an oriental inspired nightclub kitted out with Art Deco art serving up unique cocktail creations. http://www.peninsula.com/
There are countless malls in Manila, with a vast majority counting themselves among the biggest malls in the world. Most of these shopping complexes can be confusing and sell a mixture of high street brands and replica goods. Greenbelt Mall however has a great selection of designer stores and some great bargains. http://ayalamalls.com.ph
